About the Range

A great location has been acquired and now development is needed to make the Range the best Royal Ranger campground possible. Your investment will make you a partner with New Mexico Royal Rangers in reaching a common goal - developing Christian men and boys.

A great deal of progress has been made in the development of the Range in preparation for  the New Mexico District Pow-Wow. We would like to thank all those individuals who have spent time working on the property. We were fortunate to get the road base in place by the 2003 Territorial Rendezvous. We would like to thank PG Enterprises for completing the roadwork on a tight schedule. More than a mile of roadwork is now complete.

We are currently working on a number of projects: clearing trees and brush left behind from the roadwork, continued development of the rifle range, fencing for the western boundary, road work to control erosion, and continued development of the amphitheater. In the next couple of months a site development plan will be drafted. If you have comments or suggestions, please contact District Commander; Bart Garrison, or Site Manager; Ted Schmidt Sr.

Current Projects and Development:

1. Walking Bridge - the Draw
The foundation (see pictures on right) for a walking bridge to be placed across the large draw has been acquired. The railing, supports, and trusses are currently being constructed. Thanks to Jim and Howard Chappell for the many hours of metal work required to construct the bridge.

2. Development of the Amphitheater - Completed 8/1/04
Clearing of the amphitheater site is done. The size of the amphitheater has doubled in size from it's size at the 2003 Pow-wow. All trees and stumps have been removed. A culvert needs to be installed for drainage. Terracing will begin in late June. General lighting is also needed.

3. Development of the Shooting Range
The current shooting range has been effectively utilized in many Royal Ranger events over the past two years. Plans are in place to increase the width and depth of the shooting range. Also, the berm size needs to be doubled on the back end of the range and increased on the sides. Bulldozer work needs to be done.

Upcoming Projects:
1. Erosion control
2. Fencing of the western boundary
3. Electricity run to the entire site

Completed Projects:
1. Roadwork (1 mile +)
2. Culverts installed for three draws
3. Flag poles installed
4. Large draw stairwell
5. Fully functional trail house - Thanks
6. Amphitheater

Items Needed:
1. Monetary Contributions - made payable to the Range Heritage Foundation
2. Man hours
3. Bulldozer work
